女性MCの代表格として、日本のHIPHOP初期を支えたパイオニア的存在。
B-boy park MCバトルで女性初の準優勝を果たし、m-floやZEEBRAをはじめ多数のアーティストにフィーチャーされるなど、ジャンルを超えた存在感を示してきた。2009年にメジャーデビューし、配信チャート上位を席巻。映画主題歌やTVCM楽曲も多数手がける。
独立後、自主レーベル「Queen’s Room」を設立。Sly & Robbieとの共作でグラミー賞ノミネート作品に参加し、授賞式にも参列するなど、国際的な音楽キャリアを展開。
2018年には縄文時代をテーマにした『JOMON GREEN』をリリース。アイヌ文化をモチーフにした『The Voices of Kamuy』は、マーベル社アニメ『ヒットモンキー』の挿入歌に起用される。
最新作『OTO』では和楽器とHIPHOP等のアーバンミュージックを融合させた新ジャンル“Japanese Fusion”の世界観を提示。
同作品はグラミー賞公式サイトにて特集され、さらにグラミー賞公式プレイリスト「GLOBAL SPIN」に日本代表として選出された。
“Japanese Fusion”を通し、日本の精神性と音楽の革新性を融合させ、グローバルミュージックシーンに新たな波を生み出している。

As one of the leading female MCs, COMA-CHI is a pioneering figure who helped shape the early days of Japanese hip hop. She became the first woman to place as runner-up in the B-boy Park MC Battle, and has showcased her cross-genre presence through collaborations with numerous artists including m-flo and ZEEBRA. In 2009, she made her major label debut, topping digital charts, and later contributed songs for films and TV commercials.
After going independent, she founded her own label Queen’s Room. She collaborated with Sly & Robbie on a Grammy-nominated project and even attended the awards ceremony, marking her international footprint.
In 2018, she released JOMON GREEN, inspired by the Jomon period, followed by The Voices of Kamuy, which drew from Ainu culture and was featured in Marvel’s animated series Hit-Monkey.
Her latest album OTO presents a new genre she calls “Japanese Fusion,” blending traditional Japanese instruments with hip hop and other forms of urban music. The work was spotlighted on the official Grammy website and selected for the official Grammy playlist GLOBAL SPIN as Japan’s representative.
Through “Japanese Fusion,” COMA-CHI continues to merge Japanese spirituality with musical innovation, creating a new wave in the global music scene.
